Romanian Lectureship

History

Founded in 1999, as a subdivision of the Romanian Ministry of Education, Research and Innovation, the Romanian Language Institute has over 41 Romanian Lectureship and 51 lecturers operating in prestigious university centers across three continents: Europe, Asia and America. At a regional level, the Romanian Lectureship established at ASU is the third (after the ones created at Glendon College, York University, Canada, and Columbia University, USA), but it is the first lectureship of such magnitude, functioning within the only Romanian Department in an American academic institution (ASU).

On September 1, 2011, under the Protocol signed between the Romanian Language Institute and the School of International Letters and Cultures, a new Romanian Lecturer was inaugurated in the US academia. The Romanian lecturer at ASU is Dr. Iosefina Blazsani-Batto. The Romanian Language Lecturers at ASU in chronological order: Carmen Borbely (2011-2012), Horia Poenar (2012-2013), Zoia Manolescu (2013-2017), Ionuț Geana (2018-2021).
